Moonstone Beach Elopement in Trinidad, California | Mel & Evan
Where the Redwoods Meet the Sea:
Mel & Evan’s Moonstone Beach Elopement in Humboldt on Harvest Moon
An intimate Moonstone Beach Elopement in Trinidad, California | September 26, 2026
Some love stories are meant to be celebrated with grand gestures and crowded rooms. Others unfold quietly, surrounded by the people who matter most, in places that already feel like magic.
For Mel and Evan, their wedding elopement day was about love, family, and the beauty of being present in a moment they would remember forever.
On September 26, 2026, beneath the glow of the Harvest Moon, they exchanged vows along the breathtaking coastline of Moonstone Beach in Humboldt County, California.
Their vision was simple and beautiful: to be married where the redwoods meet the sea.
And on a day filled with golden light, ocean breezes, happy tears, and unforgettable moments, that vision came to life.
A Quiet Morning Among the Redwoods
The day began at a charming cottage nestled among the towering redwoods of Trinidad, California. Surrounded by lush greenery and the peaceful stillness of the forest, it was the perfect setting for an intimate celebration.
The cottage would serve as more than a place to get ready. Later that evening, it would welcome everyone back for a candlelit dinner, laughter around a bonfire, and a celebration beneath the stars.
As Mel prepared for the day, the cottage filled with those little moments that make a wedding so meaningful. The anticipation, the finishing touches, and the excitement of knowing that something extraordinary was about to happen.
Outside, a beautiful first look was waiting to unfold.
A Love Letter and a First Look to Remember
Some of the most beautiful moments of a wedding day happen before a single vow is spoken.
At the end of the pathway leading to the cottage, Evan stood waiting with their son, Bohdi, by his side. Before seeing his bride, he was handed a personal letter from Mel to read privately.
It was a quiet moment, one filled with words meant just for him.
As Evan finished reading, Mel appeared on the cottage porch. Elegant and radiant, she made her way across the porch and down the path toward the two people waiting for her.
Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for.
Mel gently tapped Evan and Bohdi on the shoulder.
They turned, seeing her for the first time in her wedding dress.
It was a beautiful reminder that this wedding was not only about two people joining their lives together, but also about celebrating the family and love they had already built.
Before leaving for the beach, we gathered everyone for family portraits in front of the cottage. One of the sweetest photographs brought Mel, Evan, and both sets of parents together as one big, happy family.
With those memories captured, it was time to head toward the ocean.
Where the Redwoods Meet the Sea
There is something undeniably romantic about Moonstone Beach.
Tucked along Northern California's rugged coastline, it's a place where dramatic cliffs, forested hillsides, and the Pacific Ocean come together. The landscape feels wonderfully untouched, and the changing coastal light gives everything an almost dreamlike quality.
For Mel and Evan, there was one particular stretch of beach that felt right.
Halfway down the shoreline, closer to the cliffs, they chose the place they had imagined for their ceremony: where the redwoods meet the sea.
As the afternoon light softened toward sunset, their closest family gathered around them. There was no elaborate altar or grand production. The ocean, the cliffs, the sky, and the people they loved were all they needed.
Together, Mel and Evan stood before the Pacific Ocean and promised to share their lives.
They read their vows, exchanged rings, and filled the ceremony with heartfelt words, laughter, and happy tears. Every smile and every embrace carried the joy of two people celebrating a love that was unmistakably their own.
In a meaningful nod to Jewish tradition, the couple included the breaking of the glass, followed by their "I do's" and a kiss.
Surrounded by family, with the waves rolling gently behind them, they were married.
Their First Dance Beneath the Harvest Moon
As the sun began its final descent toward the horizon, the sky transformed into a breathtaking wash of soft pinks and golden yellows. The colors reflected across the wet sand and shallow water, turning Moonstone Beach into something out of a painting.
And then came one of the most unforgettable moments of the entire day.
Mel and Evan shared their first dance on the beach, beneath the Harvest Moon.
There was something so effortlessly beautiful about watching them move together, with the Pacific Ocean stretching out behind them and the last light of the day surrounding them.
They danced with such natural elegance and connection that, for a moment, it felt as though they were the only two people on the beach.
No distractions. No rush.
Just two people completely wrapped up in one another.
As photographers, these are the moments we treasure most. The moments when everything comes together naturally, when the light is extraordinary, but the emotion is even more beautiful.
After their dance, we spent time photographing the newlyweds along the shoreline, capturing the quiet romance of their first sunset as a married couple.
Before leaving Moonstone Beach, we gave Mel and Evan a private moment to simply take it all in.
The ocean, the fading sunset, the moon above them, and the feeling of finally being married.
Some memories deserve a little space to breathe.
An Intimate Candlelit Celebration in the Forest
As daylight faded, we returned to the redwood cottage in Trinidad, where a warm and inviting celebration awaited.
Outside, a bonfire brought everyone together while appetizers were enjoyed and dinner was prepared. After an evening on the coast, the warmth of the fire and the peaceful forest setting made everything feel especially cozy.
The dinner table was absolutely beautiful.
Delicate white flowers decorated the table, complemented by golden accent plates and the soft glow of candlelight. It was elegant without feeling formal, thoughtfully arranged for a gathering where everyone could relax, connect, and celebrate.
Mel traded the ocean breeze for a stunning white faux-fur jacket, the perfect finishing touch to her bridal look. And of course, the newlyweds brought a little playful personality to the evening with their "Just Married" sunglasses.
Surrounded by their closest family, Mel and Evan celebrated beneath the moonlit redwoods.
There was laughter, conversation, and that wonderful feeling of togetherness that makes small weddings so special.
Rather than a crowded reception, they had an evening where every person could be part of the celebration.
Every seat at the table mattered. Every conversation was shared with someone they loved.
A Cozy Ending to an Unforgettable Day
As the night grew cooler, everyone moved inside the cottage for dessert, warmth, and more time together.
With blankets, the cozy heat of the cottage, and the happiness of the day still lingering, Mel and Evan opened gifts while their family continued celebrating.
It was the kind of ending that felt perfectly suited to the entire day. Nothing rushed, nothing overly planned. Just love, laughter, and the simple pleasure of being together.
Outside, the redwoods stood quietly beneath the night sky, and the Harvest Moon watched over the coastline where Mel and Evan had begun their marriage.
A Love as Beautiful as the Place They Chose
What made Mel and Evan's elopement so special wasn't simply the incredible sunset, the coastal scenery, or the beautiful forest cottage.
It was the intention behind every part of their day.
The handwritten letter before their first look. Sharing that first reveal with their son. Bringing their parents together for family portraits. Exchanging vows beside the ocean. Dancing on the sand as the sky turned pink. And gathering around one table beneath the redwoods to celebrate the beginning of their next chapter.
Every moment felt personal, meaningful, and true to who they are.
Mel and Evan chose a wedding day centered on what mattered most to them: their love, their family, and the beautiful place they chose to make their promises.
We feel incredibly fortunate to have documented their story and all the little moments that made it unforgettable.
Congratulations, Mel and Evan. May your marriage be filled with as much warmth, beauty, laughter, and love as the day you said "I do."
With love,
